Could You Try Freak-Matching?
Our relationship expert Dr Pam Spurr (On Twitter @drpamspurr) shares her advice on how to meet someone who will love you - for you.
Calling all quirky people (I’m one!) - do you feel proud of your quirks, or do you try and hide them when you're on the dating scene? Well, I have good news for you, hide them no more because you could do some freak-matching, as it's called. This is where a single actively looks for a partner who matches or complements their unique quirks and also likes their quirky interests.
You wouldn't be alone with studies around the world ranging from 50% to 80% of populations saying they have quirks. In Britain, 57% of people say they actually like to stand out from the crowd with their quirks.
A full 20% of Brits say their quirky habits are a regular feature of their daily life. So, if you're single and quirky, it’s time to let those shine through!

A few key tips for freak-matching:
* Stand out from the crowd. When it comes to your dating profile why not highlight a fun quirk of yours. Make it a feature. This way, any single looking at your profile is forewarned and forearmed and they might just love your honesty.
* Also let other singles know that you are attracted to the odd quirk. Spell it out, say you like people with unique sides to their personality.
*Don’t be shy to list your unusual interests and pursuits. You might just match with someone who shares them. Or you might match with a single who’d like to know more.
*Look at profiles with a new eye. Take a chance on those who stand out by being different. Life’s too short to stick to rigid stereotypes.
* Remember, they may not share the same quirks as you, but you might find their unique quirks attractive. Opposites can attract! So don’t worry if you don’t freak-match on your quirks.
*Know when it’s too much to share - or too soon to. There’s a difference between letting little quirks shine through in your profile – or in your messaging when you match with someone – and letting it ALL hang out.

‘Personal’ can be good/fun (like sharing that you love to sleep in Christmas PJs all year round) but ‘private’ (like you love playing Minecraft while sitting on the toilet) should possibly remain private until you know them better.
Time to get your freak on, good luck and happy dating x
